Rector of the University of Zadar, Prof Josip Faričić, PhD, appointed President of the Croatian Rectors' Conference for the new academic year

At the meeting of the Rectors' Conference of the Republic of Croatia on 24 June 2025, which was confirmed by the minutes of the meeting on 10 July 2025, Prof. Josip Faričić, PhD, was unanimously elected President of this body. His term of office will last the entire coming academic year. Prof Nebojša Stojčić, PhD, Rector of the University of Dubrovnik, was elected as his deputy. With this decision, the Rectors' Conference ends the one-year term of office of the previous President, Prof Vlado Guberac, PhD, Rector of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, whose deputy was Prof Josip Faričić, PhD.

The Rectors' Conference consists of the rectors of all public and private universities in the Republic of Croatia. At its meetings, it deals with matters of common interest related to the functioning and development of universities, faculties and art academies in the Republic of Croatia. The tasks of this body include proposing the members of the National Council for Higher Education, Science and Technological Development, proposing the members of the field councils, submitting proposals to the National Council on the educational and professional components of the national higher education, science and arts criteria, Make recommendations for the development of the higher education system, monitor and promote the Bologna Process, propose activities and measures to increase the internationalisation of higher education, perform the tasks assigned to it by the universities and perform other tasks prescribed by the laws regulating science and higher education.
