The University of Zadar awarded an honorary doctorate to Maestro Ivan Repušić


This year, the University of Zadar awarded the Honorary Doctorate of Science, doctoris honoris causa, to Maestro Ivan Repušić. He is one of the most important and most successful Croatian conductors of the younger generation, who has greatly enriched the Zadar and Croatian cultural public with his artistic achievements.
Repušić is the chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra, the first permanent guest conductor of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and until recently the chief music director of the Lower Saxony State Opera in Hanover. He has been awarded a number of national recognitions for his work so far, as well as the City of Zadar Award in 2008.
Among the guests of the Ceremony, it was attended by the Archbishop of Zadar, Msgr. Želimir Puljić, Mayor of Zadar Dr. Branko Dukić, Special Adviser to the Minister of Culture and Media Iva Hraste Sočo, as well as the members of the Committee that positively assessed Repušić’s candidacy. The president of the Committee, academician Zoran Juranić, listed the most important achievements from the maestro's career. he pointed out that Repušić distinguished himself in reviving the musical life of Zadar, especially in the summer months, in which he presented unforgettable works of music literature such as Brahms and Beethoven's symphonies and as the conductor of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra, which he raised to the level of a symphony orchestra.
