The best Croatian works among Elementary School pupils were selected as part of the EU-CONEXUS competition


Elementary School pupils from Zadar County together with their mentors presented projects on sustainable coastal zone management as part of The European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability (EU-CONEXUS) international school contest 'Think Smart, Create Green'. The jury of the University of Zadar has selected the best works that will represent Croatia next week in the International competition of all European EU-CONEXUS alliance members. After work presentation in both categories (Pupils aged 13-14 and 14-15) the winners were teams from the Elementary School Šime Budinić. 
Pupils aged 13-14 were asked to draw a poster in which the attributes of sustainable city are featured, or tell a story in photographs: Sustainable coastal tourism and economy. 
Pupils aged 14-15 are asked to make a short video with coastal residents talking about the quality of coastal life, with the emphasis on sustainability or to design a smart waste disposal container for their school. 
The winner in the 13-14 age category was the team led by teacher Biljana Agić from the Elementary School Šime Budinić. It’s members were Helena Kadija, Tonina Kolega, Ivan Čirjak and Frano Kolega had prepared a wallpaper presenting features of a “Sustainable city”. In the 14-15 age category, the team from the same school consisting of pupils Petra Marušić, Ivona Rukavina, Stipe Kasun i Bartol Cuković, led by teacher Anita Mustać, presented a video "Quality of life on the coast – Zadar waterfront and sustainable development".       
Both works will be presented virtually to an international jury on 27th April, which will select the overall winners of the competition. For the category 13-14, the international price will be a visit to a EU-CONEXUS city of choice (Athens, Bucharest, Klaipeda, La Rochelle, Valencia), and the category 14-15 winners’ international price will be a trip to Bruxelles and a visit to the European Parliament. In case of travel limitations due to COVID-19 or any other force majeure, the international prize may be substituted by another one of equivalent value.
