Current Vice-Rector Full Professor Dijana Vican has been elected Rector of the University of Zadar on 27 May 2015, with a two-thirds majority of votes cast. Her opposing candidates  Full Professor Ana Proroković, Full Professor Emil Hilje, and Full Professor Jozo Rogošić received eight, three and zero votes respectively. The rector of the University of Zadar is elected by a secret ballot vote. In accordance with the Statute of the University of Zadar and electoral instructions, the winning candidate needs a simple majority of the total number of Senate members.

Full professor Dijana Vican's mandate starts on 1 October 2015.
