Valerija Barada is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology, University of Zadar. She studied single major sociology in Zagreb, where she also completed an extra-institutional programme in Women’s studies. Since then she has intertwined sociology and feminism in her scientific, academic, and activist work. From the theoretical scope of social reproduction, she deals with questions of the social position of women and gender roles, work biographies as well as issues of work-life balance. Alongside her research practice, she is developing theoretical concepts on issues of women’s labour. She believes in the public role of academia so she often engages in workshops, public talks, and round tables where she critically investigates gender inequalities in society.
