ESN Zadar

ESN Zadar is a part of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), a non-profit international student organisation. Its mission is to represent international students, thus it provides opportunities for cultural understanding and self-development under the principle of Students Helping Students. We strongly recommend that all incoming students use the mentor service Buddy System UNIZD which helps incoming students with their arrival and during their stay in Zadar. “Buddies” are students of the University of Zadar who take the mentor role and assist incoming students with everything they need during their exchange. You should know that they do that on a voluntary basis in their spare time.

They are expected to help incoming students in at least the following ways:

  • help them to understand the layout of Zadar and get used to the new environment (local transport routes, bus connections, office hours, opening a bank account etc.),
  • help to integrate them by way of social events such as parties and cultural programmes,
  • help them throughout the semester if a problem arises.

The motivation for participation in this system both for incoming students and their “buddies” is to meet new people, to get to learn more about other cultures and countries, to improve language skills and, after all, to have fun.

The incoming student should fill in the application form at least 30 days before their arrival in Zadar. The application form can be found here. 
 

For more information on student mobility, the Erasmus+ programme and ESN as an organisation, see the short promotional film its members have made here. The organisation has also made several additional films depicting their activities in Zadar. The first video, entitled “Meet ESNZadar Family” presents the group, and its role at the University, and also among students. Another film gives an overview of the first week of incoming students in the spring semester of 2016, and the activities in which they were involved, such as the International dinner for incoming students, The Informative Day for prospective outgoing students and many other activities. As part of promoting mobility for disabled students, ESN also organised the filming of a promotional video using sign language.
